Write For Us
How to Submit Your Work to Us
First of all, we love writers, of both fiction and nonfiction, published and unpublished. Please think of us when you have an idea for a book, have gotten your rights back, or have finished a manuscript.
Whether you are an unpublished or published author, the first thing we would like to see from you is a simple one-page query letter telling us about your work and your writing background. Please make sure you include a return email address and a phone number. Send your query letter to Submissions@RiverdaleAveBooks.com. We are an electronic publisher and DO NOT take physical queries or manuscript submissions.
If you are an unpublished writer, keep in mind that we will need you to submit a finished manuscript, so please do not submit a query to us before you have finished the first draft.
If you are a previously published author, after you have sent a query letter and we have expressed interest, we will expect you to submit either the first three chapters of your novel and a complete outline, or your nonfiction book proposal. Even if you have finished the manuscript, please wait for us to ask to see the entire book.
All requested submissions should be double-spaced and sent as a word .doc attachment.
We will respond to query letters within 30-60 days. If you have not heard from us, you may assume we are not interested.
What We Are Looking For
We currently have nine imprints:
Riverdale Desire is our Erotica and Erotic Romance imprint. We are looking for works of fiction from 50,000 to 65,000 words that explore either the erotic journey (erotica) or the quest for satisfaction with a happy ending or at least a happy–for-now ending. We will consider anthologies as well as novellas of between 20,000 and 40,000 words. We are actively looking for erotica and erotic romance in the following sub-genres: contemporary, historical, male/male (m/m), female/female (f/f), ménage, paranormal (especially vampires, werewolves and zombies) and BDSM (especially novels featuring dominant women).
Riverdale/Magnus is our LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) imprint. We are actively looking for titles, both fiction and nonfiction, in a wide variety of areas, including popular culture, entertainment, biography/memoir, self-help, spirituality, and current affairs, among others.
Riverdale Pop is our Pop Culture line. We are actively looking for both authorized andunauthorized biographies of celebrities who have captured the cultural spotlight, mostlycurrent, but a blast from the past might be occasionally appropriate. We will also bepublishing books about favorite TV shows, movies, and pop cultural phenomenon.
Riverdale Dagger is our mystery and thriller imprint. We are actively looking for all types of mysteries from cozy to hard-boiled, from novellas to series. In thrillers we are looking for stand-alines and series in all categories (e.g. medical, political, military, legal etc.).
Riverdale Truth is our Erotic Memoir imprint. We are actively looking for true stories of erotic exploration and adventures from midlife dating to the life of a swinger. This is nonfiction, but we will consider anonymous memoirs and anthologies as well.
Riverdale VerVe is our Lifestyle imprint. We are actively looking for new lifestyle books that cover the lifestyle, design, fashion, food, fitness, entertainment, travel and style industry and their trends.
Riverdale HSF is our Horror, Science Fiction and Fantasy line. We are actively looking for game-changing fiction in these categories. If anyone has ever read anything like your book before, we don’t want it; we want your book to blow us away.
Riverdale Sports is our Sports imprint. We are looking for new sport book ideas that cover compelling sports personalities and elements of the game in ways not written about before.
Riverdale Gaming is our Gaming imprint. We are actively looking for new gaming books that cover this compelling industry from the business of gaming to the actual games themselves.
Although many of our books deal with adult themes and situations, we will not publish works that could be seen as promoting underage sexuality, bestiality, necrophilia, rape or incest, or which otherwise violate any laws.
We are always looking for branded products, so if you represent an established brand that you believe would make a good line of books, please email us at RAB@RiverdaleAveBooks.com.
How to Break In
The best way to get our attention and get published by us is to write a short story or essay for one of our many anthologies. We will post calls for open anthologies on our blog, RiverdaleAveBooks.blogspot.com. We encourage you to visit the blog regularly.
